Finland continues to rank far beyond the EU average in terms of innovation performance, according to the European Innovation Scoreboard 2022. Coming in second in the listing, Finland has earned the status of an innovation leader.
Finland’s main strengths were identified as lifelong learning, public-private co-publications, and collaboration between small and medium enterprises. Moreover, compared to the year prior, there have been notable increases in business process innovators, sales of innovative products, and broadband penetration. While scoring far above average, Finland has room to improve when it comes to resource productivity, government support for business R&D, medium and high-tech goods exports, and tertiary education of its population.
