KONE Corporation, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, has been awarded a place on CDP’s prestigious ‘A List’ for its work in tackling climate change. The company has again been recognized for its actions to cut emissions, mitigate climate risks and develop a low-carbon economy and is one of a small number of high-performing companies out of nearly 12,000 companies that were scored.
Being a leader in sustainability has long been a strategic target for KONE. The company has a key role in making urbanization more sustainable and continues to take strong actions together with its customers, partners and suppliers, to develop sustainable business practices for the long term. Last year, the company set science-based targets for significant reductions in its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by the year 2030 and has also pledged to have carbon neutral operations in the same timeframe.
“We are extremely proud of our CDP leadership score. This achievement truly reflects our uncompromising commitment to continuously improve environmental excellence,” says Hanna Uusitalo, Environmental Director at KONE. “More sustainable urbanization and approaches that benefit the climate and environment are what we all should strive for.”
