Foreign investment in Finland

Finland continues to attract foreign investment despite the pandemic

Finland continues to attract foreign investment as almost 300 foreign companies entered and 130 expanded in Finland during 2020, despite the pandemic. Especially business services and ICT industry received investments.

The number of foreign investments in Finland has increased from the two previous years. This is remarkable since the UN Conference on Trade and Development has reported that the foreign direct investment has hit a new low since the 1990s.

Antti Aumo, the Executive Director of Invest in Finland, states that even though COVID-19 has caused challenges, many of the foreign-owned companies still view Finland as an ideal place for business. Foreign companies have for example praised Finland for stability, digital infrastructure, and well-functioning society.

The highest number of new investments came from Sweden, Norway and the UK.
