The Euro Health Consumer Index 2018 has ranked Finland’s healthcare system sixth best among 35 European countries. The index is based on 46 indicators which include for example care, treatment outcomes and prevention. Finland also ranked sixth best last year. The Finnish system did especially well in the value for money criteria as well as the general outcomes. The top three countries in Europe are Switzerland, Norway and the Netherlands.
Improvement in Finland is needed especially regarding preventative care and subsidies for prescription drugs.
