Neste and a Dutch start-up Circularise team up to increase visibility along value chains

FDCC Patron member Neste and a Netherlands-based startup Circularise have announced a partnership to bring Circularise’s traceability software into circular polymers and chemicals supply chains. The goal of the cooperation is to establish digital solutions to trace renewable and recycled material flows, providing increased transparency along the value chain.

Data-based supply chain visibility can strengthen trust in sustainable solutions, which is needed as a mix of raw materials, both recycled or renewable and fossil materials may be processed together. The companies will use Circularise’s blockchain-based supply chain traceability software, which allows them to verify where materials come from and how and where they were processed.

The software creates a digital twin for the physical material, which stores information on the used materials throughout the value chain. The stored information enables all value chain parties to keep track of the material.

KONE awarded as Supplier Engagement Leader by CDP

KONE, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, has again been awarded a position on the CDP 2021 Supplier Engagement Rating (SER) Leaderboard. KONE ranks among the top 4.5% of organizations assessed by CDP. Demonstrating actions to cut emissions, mitigate climate risks, and develop a low-carbon economy, KONE also achieved a place on CDP’s prestigious ‘A List’ for Climate Change at the end of last year.

“We are delighted to be included in CDP’s Supplier Engagement Rating Leaderboard, which recognizes KONE as a global leader for engaging with our suppliers. Companies need to better understand their impact on the value chain, make the most of low-carbon business opportunities, and continue to work on climate resilience,” said Hanna Uusitalo, environmental director at KONE.

KONE works with approximately 30,000 suppliers, which provide the company with raw materials, components, and modules, as well as logistics and installation services. As a responsible corporate citizen and business partner, KONE aims to make a positive impact throughout the value chain. Taking responsibility for the environment and sustainability more broadly is included in the KONE Supplier Code of Conduct.

Nokia commits $400m to NGP Capital for investments in game-changing growth companies

Espoo, Finland – on the 3rd of February Nokia announced its commitment to NGP Capital’s Fund V, a new $400m venture fund that will focus on promising, growth-stage companies. The fund’s emphasis on companies developing emerging 5G use cases for industrial and business transformation aligns closely with Nokia’s technology leadership vision and its efforts to maximize the value shift towards the cloud.

Aiming to establish new partnership opportunities, the fund will invest in private companies that generate attractive financial returns and are strategically relevant to Nokia. Target investments will be evaluated on product-market fit, unit economics, and technology leadership. In addition, companies will be assessed on key ESG metrics, to support progress from an environmental, social, and governance perspective.

Fund V will create value for Nokia by tapping into strategic domains and generating financial investment gains, following the venture model NGP Capital has been running for Nokia since 2005.

KONE recognized with prestigious ‘A’ score for climate change

KONE Corporation, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, has been awarded a place on CDP’s prestigious ‘A List’ for its work in tackling climate change. The company has again been recognized for its actions to cut emissions, mitigate climate risks and develop a low-carbon economy and is one of a small number of high-performing companies out of nearly 12,000 companies that were scored.

Being a leader in sustainability has long been a strategic target for KONE. The company has a key role in making urbanization more sustainable and continues to take strong actions together with its customers, partners and suppliers, to develop sustainable business practices for the long term. Last year, the company set science-based targets for significant reductions in its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by the year 2030 and has also pledged to have carbon neutral operations in the same timeframe.

Howspace launches training program

Facilitating change in a human-centric way is the skill of the future. Howspace launched a new training program for human-centric transformation.

Human interaction is at the heart of Howspace, an AI-powered digital facilitation platform for collaboration and social learning. To promote the human-centric approach to transformation, Howspace invited selected partners to co-create a certification program that trains and equips people with skills and practices needed to drive impactful change in organizations digitally in a human-centric way.

The Transformation Agent certification program was created from this process. The partners who took part in the co-creation of the program were trained and certified to organize the TA programs.

“The co-creative process worked nicely, and it was an excellent learning experience for everybody. We believe in engagement, so the co-creative approach was a natural choice for us,” said Ulla Luukas, Partnerships Director at Howspace.

The TA certification program will be run by Howspace Certified Partners around the world. The TA program is for people looking to find skills and practices for driving different kinds of change and transformation processes in their organizations in a human-centric way. The enrollment for the first certification programs has started and the programs begin at the beginning of 2022.
